Full announcement from the Asheville Police Department:
ASHEVILLE – On 12-10-11 at approx. 9:10 pm, officers were dispatched to the area of the Wall Street Parking Deck concerning a common law robbery. The suspect had snatched a purse from an elderly female, and knocked down two elderly males that accompanied her. A witness riding his bicycle was able to follow the suspect and watch him discard the stolen property nearby.
Officer’s from the Asheville Police Department quickly arrived on scene, where the witness pointed out the suspect near Otis St. and N. French Broad Ave. The suspect was placed into custody and was positively identified as the offender by multiple victims and witnesses. One of the elderly males was transported to Mission for a sizeable laceration to his head.
Charged was Anderson Wright English (06/11/1990) with larceny from a person, assault inflicting serious injury, and simple assault. Bond set at $20,000 secured.
