Here's the press release from Linda Southard, announcing her candidacy for the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners in District 116, which encompasses much of the western part of the county:
Linda Southard has announced that she will be a Republican candidate for the Buncombe County Commission from the 116th District. Ms. Southard has extensive experience in business development, marketing, management, and finance. For the past 18 years, Ms. Southard was the founder, owner and President of a woman-owned medical leave outsourcing business with clients throughout the US.
Ms. Southard is running for Buncombe County commissioner because she believes she can bring her business and budget management skills to the commission. “The economy is down, many of our neighbors are out of work, county revenue is down, and our county budgets are not adequately reflecting these facts” Linda states. “I’m standing for responsible management of Buncombe County taxpayers’ dollars, encouraging good private-sector jobs, and more transparency at the Buncombe County commission.”
Ms. Southard holds an MBA in marketing and BS in Medical Technology. Prior to founding her business, Ms. Southard worked in product management for a Fortune 500 company and in business development for a large urban healthcare system.
Ms. Southard was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, and has lived and worked in Michigan and New Jersey. She and her husband Tom, reside in Candler, NC.
