FROM THE ASHEVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT (full release)
On Sunday, 12-18-11, at approx. 10:55 pm, the Asheville Police Department responded to the Citizens Food Store at 411 Merrimon Ave., in reference to an Armed Robbery.
The investigation revealed that a black male, stocky and approx. 5’05” with dreadlocks; dressed in a dark colored hooded sweatshirt, light colored blue jeans, white tennis shoes, multi-colored gloves, and a blue bandana over his face entered the store brandishing a dark colored handgun and told the clerk that he wanted the money.
The clerk appropriately opened the register and provided the suspect with the contents. The suspect then left the store and got into a dark colored Monte Carlo which left the scene headed down Coleman Ave. towards Woodcroft Apts.
Anyone with information on this individual is asked to contact the APD @ 252-1110 or Crimestoppers @ 255-5050.
