Tags:FROM BUNCOMBE COUNTY (full release)
The target date for completion of the renovations at Buncombe County’s Health and Human Services building at 40 Coxe Avenue is January 23, 2012.
The completion of this renovation means that clients and visitors coming to 40 Coxe Avenue seeking assistance will be able to find the assistance they need in one place. Staff will assess their individual needs and be able to connect them on-site to a broad range of health and economic services including Medicaid, Immunizations, Family Planning, Food Assistance (Food Stamps), WIC, Disease Control, Work First and Child Care Subsidy.
In the past, accessing these services meant explaining the need multiple times to multiple people in different locations. With the completion of this renovation and reorganization, access is a one-stop experience. The County is expanding access options so that no matter how or where residents turn for help, it is always the “right” door. Besides the one-stop office at 40 Coxe Avenue, residents can also apply for many assistance programs over the phone, or 24/7 online at buncombecounty.org/dss. The County wants working people, homebound adults, and busy parents to be able to access the services they need in the way that best meets their needs.
This reorganization is part of the County’s ongoing efforts to maximize resources and provide services that ensure residents’ safety and well-being, foster better health, and support their self-sufficiency.
