Asheville Police nab suspect in September bank robbery

According to a report at the Asheville Police Department's "Police Blotter" website, the suspect in a September robbery of First Citizens Bank in east Asheville has been caught:

After extensive follow-up, APD Detectives were able to identify the suspect in this matter as Brian Keith Leonhart, W/M, 02-18-79; of Cook St., Lt. 16, Franklin, NC 28734.

A warrant for Robbery w/ a Dangerous Weapon was issued on 12-29-11 for Mr. Leonhart and Macon County Deputies picked him up shortly thereafter.

Mr. Leonhart was transported back to Buncombe County and is currently in the Detention Facility under a $30,000 dollar bond.
APD Investigating Bank Robbery at First Citizens

[earlier report] ASHEVILLE – On 09-28-11 at approx. 3:35 pm, the Asheville Police Department responded to an Armed Robbery call at the First Citizens Bank located at 1205 Tunnel Rd. in East Asheville.

A preliminary investigation reveals that a W/M, approx. 5’09”, “heavyset”, wearing a dark colored long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, dark sunglasses, and a camo baseball cap; with a mustache and facial hair is the listed suspect who left in a white chevy (possibly PT Cruiser) towards Swannanoa.Read the full article
