According to City Clerk Maggie Burleson, Asheville City Council's Public Safety Committee will meet to consider new ordinances prohibiting camping, storage and enclosed structures on city property at 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 3 in the training room on the fourth floor of the municipal building. The ordinances were drafted in response to the Occupy Asheville encampment in front of City Hall. Contrary to reports that the location might change, so far the meeting is still set for its original location. The committee is composed of Council members Cecil Bothwell (as chair), Jan Davis and Gordon Smith. Council committees usually consider ordinance changes before the whole Council votes on the matter.
