Children and school namesake tour new Koontz Intermediate School

Next week 698 students will fill the halls of the newest Buncombe County school, Charles T. Koontz Intermediate School. The fifth grade students will come from Avery's Creek, Estes and Glen Arden Elementary schools, and today they got to see their new classrooms, claim cubbys and hang some art work on the walls.

The 105,000 square foot, 15 million dollar school, named for long-time Buncombe County educator Charles T. Koontz is LEED-certified and features some intriguing design features which teachers will be able to use for years to come.
