While many Americans are beginning this new year with resolutions to lose weight, exercise more, quit smoking or just be nicer to their friends and families, Scott Owen has taken a more cerebral vow.
“My goal for this year is to be totally optimistic as much as I possibly can be, every day, just for the sake of the energy I hope to create by being optimistic,” Owen said. ...
Before you roll your eyes and chalk off one more pie-in-the-sky guru on a warm and fuzzy bender for world peace and harmony, consider that Owen is a family man with an accomplished wife and three great kids, a gifted silversmith and jewelry artist, an organic farmer and former rancher, and a master teller of tales chronicling his very colorful life so far. . .
He also has found a passion in the Occupy Asheville movement, which he is convinced can be a channel for the positive change he has sought since he left behind the world of Beaver Cleaver and embraced the likes of Timothy Leary and the Merry Pranksters.
