NASA’s Terra satellite caught the 2 weather systems as the satellite passed over the Central and SE U.S. at around noon yesterday. You can see the area of low pressure labeled as “1” and its movement to the NE. The cold air (labeled “2”) is moving toward the SE and is expected to arrive in Western North Carolina late in the day today.
The heaviest rainfall reported was in a stripe right up the middle of Buncombe County almost straight north and south from Hot Springs to the south with most stations in that area reporting nearly 2 inches of rain. Most of the rest of the area reported about 1 inch with a few spots higher, and a few lower.
