Asheville storyteller shares the importance of storytelling with local junior high students

A world-renowned storyteller recently visited kids at West McDowell Junior High and shared the importance of storytelling.

For the past 40 years, Connie Regan-Blake has been teaching the importance of the oral tradition across the country and around the world. During her career, she’s visited 16 countries and 47 states, with more plans to travel in her future.

Regan-Blake makes it her mission to visit schools, especially when she’s near her hometown of Asheville.

“I perform in schools and at storytelling festivals,” said Regan-Blake. “I think it’s important to share the art of storytelling with kids, especially in an age where there’s so much information.”
