With caramel mochas in Charlotte, a meal at the famed Cheers pub in Boston and bar food at Fat Head’s Saloon in Pittsburgh, Rick Davis made himself comfortable on the road — enjoying perks put on a county credit card.

The embattled Henderson County sheriff in one case billed the county for an $80 dinner at a touristy Boston seafood restaurant for himself and another officer. While on the same trip, for a police association conference, he bought nighttime snacks at The Cheesecake Factory with $21 in public money. The sheriff traveled with family on that trip.
