Jobs on the rise in NC, outlook unclear, Fayetteville Observer reports

From the Fayetteville Observer:

State House Republican Majority Leader Paul "Skip" Stam in June made a prediction during a testy debate with Democrats over the proposed, Republican-drafted, tax-cutting 2012 state budget.

"It puts more jobs in the private sector," Stam said, about 14,900 during the next 12 months.

As of November, the latest month for which statistics are available, the state's unemployment rate was down to 9.5 percent, its lowest level in more than a year.

... But can the Republicans, who are barely into their second year of control of the General Assembly after spending most of the past 140 years on the sidelines, take credit for these glimmers of hope in a recession-battered state?
