How crazy is this: Diana Ross — the Diana Ross, of '60s girl trio The Supremes — is coming to Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Hotel. And not just for the buffet. As Smoky Mountain News reported today, "In a career spanning more than 40 years, Diana Ross has proven herself to be one of the most iconic female singers of all time. ...Ross has had 12 No. 1 singles." She performs on Saturday, March 3 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range $75-$125. Photo from Uptown Magazine.

And then there's this: Mavis Staples, who got her start in the '50s gospel family group, The Staple Singers, most recently recorded solo album You Are Not Alone, produced by Wilcon's Jeff Tweedy. Staples performs at UNC-A's Lipinsky Auditorium on Saturday, March 31. 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 for UNCA students; $7 for all area students; $20 for UNCA faculty/staff/alumni/NCCCR/WCU; $35 for general public.
