D.J. Gerken, senior attorney for the Southern Environmental Law Center in Asheville, will speak Feb. 6 at Warren Wilson College on "Using the Power of the Law to Protect the Environment." His talk, free and open to the public, begins at 6 p.m. in Canon Lounge of the Gladfelter Student Center.
Gerken's work primarily involves advocating for responsible land-use policies before county and state officials, and representing environmental clients in administrative processes and litigation. His expertise includes issues relating to national forests in the Southern Appalachians and to transportation and growth. He holds degrees from Davidson College and the University of Virginia.
