Fashion and electrical circuits? Yes, they can go together. SciGirls, a program for young women ages 9-14, welcomes fashion and science-loving girls alike to try their hand at what’s sometimes called “tech crafting.”

The class, hosted by PARI, will teach girls how to develop different kinds of circuits and then combine them with unusual fabrics. The result will be any kind of clothing the girls can imagine.

The workshop is more than just good fun. It is designed to help girls explore something new while learning about science. It’s part of PARI’s ongoing goal of engaging young people with the world of technology.

“As with all our SciGirls programs, we will stress hands-on activities designed to introduce girls to science by making science fun,” says PARI’s education director Christi Whitworth.

The class will be held Jan. 31 from 6-8 p.m. at the Transylvania County Extension Center, 98 East Morgan St. in Brevard. SciGirl programs are held on the last Tuesday of every month and cost $10. Info and registration: www.pari.edu.
