The full announcement from Frost:

Ellen Frost, owner of Bed and Biscuit, has announced her intention to run for Buncombe County Board of Commissioners to represent District 2, which includes Black Mountain, Fairview, Weaverville, Swannanoa, Barnardsville, Montreat, and parts of Leicester.

Frost, who has been highly involved in community affairs, is excited by this opportunity to serve Buncombe County, and she will bring to the Commission common sense principles that have guided her life. In light of the challenges faced by the people of this county, she promises to be a voice for fiscal responsibility, innovative job creation, environmental conservation, educational opportunity, and true collaboration.

“The nasty partisanship that seems to have taken over government and politics lately serves no one.  Building consensus around common ideas is the only way that any organization or community can move forward. Sometimes it takes work and patience to find that common ground,” said Frost. “I have always been able to bring folks together on what they can agree on and diminish differences.  The issues we face are not about Democrats or Republicans. They are the challenges that all of us face.”

Frost intends to build on the hard work and success of the current County Commission.  The future success of this county requires courage, hard work, and open ears.

Ellen’s family is deeply important to her.  Her daughter Liz is a cardiac intensive care nurse at Mission Hospital, and her ten-year-old grand-daughter, Lexi, is the apple of her eye.  Lexi’s dad is a fire marshal for the city of Asheville.

Frost owns and manages Bed and Biscuit Pet Spa in Black Mountain.  She is also currently chair of the Mimi Paige Foundation, whose mission is to advocate for responsible pet ownership through education and awareness. Ellen has previously served on the Buncombe County Advisory Board and Buncombe County Dangerous Dog Board, as well as the boards of local organizations including the Swannanoa Valley Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Corporation, Child Abuse Prevention Services, and the Literacy Council .
