Mike Clampitt announces run for Statehouse in District 119

Here’s the press release from Clampitt:

BRYSON CITY, NC-It’s now official, Mike Clampitt of Bryson City, NC filed yesterday for the NC House of Representatives 119th seat as a Republican. Clampitt arrived at the Swain County Board of Elections at the beginning of filing, which was at 12 noon. The filing period for all candidates is from 12 noon on Feb. 13, thru 12 noon on Feb. 29. The seat is currently held by Rep. Phile Haire, whom announced Dec. 29, 2011 he would not seek re-election after seven terms. Mr. Clampitt, a retired Fire Captain, from the Charlotte Fire Department in 2004, after serving 28 years. He dual careered, by serving as Co-ordinator of Fire/Rescue/Safety Services at Central Piedmont Community College for 14 years. When asked about changes he may bring to the citizens of the redistrict; “Simply, I would like to bring some common sense and accountability back to government, which seems to be illusive at many levels”. “Leaning on some of the principals learned thru my work experience, I believe we should start dealing with one crisis at a time, and move on. And not be overwhelmed with the large number of issues. Mr. Clampitt lives in the Toot Hollow community of Bryson City.
