Restaurant Opportunities Centers United releases a report about gender inequity in the food industry

On the heels of Valentine's Day, one of the biggest days of the year for restaurants, we have this unsettling report, which we wish everyone would read. Seems that restaurant serve wages have remained the same for 20 years, a fact that most people who have worked in the business know all too well. Somehow, many still don't realize that servers mostly work for tips (with their wages holding at $2.13 an hour in many places).

The report shows that women who work in the industry face systematic discrimination, poverty wages, a lack of sick days and five times more harassment than the general female workforce.
