Patsy Keever files to run for House in
North Carolina’s 10th Congressional District

Raleigh, NC—Today State Representative Patsy Keever filed for the U.S. House of Representatives in North Carolina’s newly drawn 10th Congressional District. Rep. Keever released this statement about why she is running:

Today a lot of people have a sense that Congress is not working for them. In fact, many have given up on our elected officials, believing they care more about lobbyists and special interests than ordinary folks. Many people feel that honesty and integrity are missing in Washington and that politicians inside the Beltway are more interested in partisan combat and political power than actually dealing with the critical issues that confront the American people. My goal as a member of Congress will be to make government work for everybody. That’s why I ran for office in the first place and it’s why I am running today.

As a State Representative, County Commissioner, public school teacher, mother and grandmother, I have spent more than 30 years working to make this community a great place for our families and children to live. I have always sought to put people first. I have fought to create greater opportunities for meaningful employment. I have endeavored to keep our children in school and ensure that they get an education that empowers them to prosper. I have taken a stand for the beauty of our state and the quality of our air and water. I have done my best to create a community that serves all of its citizens. When I am elected to the House of Representatives, I will continue to do so.

Rep. Patsy Keever (NC-115) is a Democratic candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in North Carolina’s 10th Congressional District. Keever taught in the public schools for more than 25 years and served on the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners for 12 years. In 2004, she ran a spirited, grassroots campaign for Congress. In 2010, Keever was elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives from NC District 115.

In the North Carolina legislature, Rep. Keever has voted consistently in support of education and our public school teachers, clean air and water, more and better jobs and justice for all citizens.
