Asheville, NC February 20, 2012—North Carolina State Representative (NC-115) Patsy Keever will be the guest speaker at Youth OUTright’s free 2012 winter event, “You Have a Million Reasons to Be Here,” on Tuesday, February 28 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, in the Grand Ballroom of the Renaissance Asheville Hotel, One Thomas Wolfe Plaza. The community is invited to attend. Complimentary food, wine and beer will be served. Please RSVP to info@youthoutright.org.
Representative Keever recently filed for the U.S. House of Representatives in North Carolina’s newly drawn 10th Congressional District. In the North Carolina legislature, Representative Keever has voted consistently in support of education and our public school teachers, clean air and water, more and better jobs and justice for all citizens.
Attendees at the event will also be treated to the premiere of a documentary created by Sean Braswell, a senior film major at UNCA. The film features 14 Western North Carolina citizens who are LGBT or LGBT supporting and delivers the message to “Be Yourself.”
Youth OUTright, WNC, Inc., a 501c-3, not-for-profit organization, offers weekly discussion groups and social activities for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth, ages 14 through 23. Every Sunday evening, from 4:00-6:00 p.m., a new topic and activity is led by 2 trained facilitators. Youth OUTright’s mission is to empower LGBTQ youth to be confident and vital members of the greater community.
