
Five bank robberies have occurred in Asheville and the surrounding area since Feb. 8, WLOS TV reports. The most recent occurred Friday morning, Feb. 24, at the Candler branch of RBC Centura. The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office is looking for a white male in his 40s, pictured here.
FROM BUNCOMBE COUNTY (full release):
(Friday, Feb. 24): The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office is on the scene of a bank robbery at 1007 Smokey Park Highway, Asheville, NC 28806. The Sheriffs Office received a call from the bank at approximately 10:15 a.m. this morning stating they had been robbed.
The information we have at this time is that an older white male entered the bank and produced a silver handgun demanding money from a teller.
The white male is described as tall and possibly in his late 40’s. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark colored t-shirt with a white pullover and a blue toboggan. He was also wearing a white medical/dust type mask. He was last seen leaving the bank on foot.
