Stayin' Alive — workshop on survival skills held

According to the Hendersonville Times-News, Survival is about staying alive and using what's available to you to keep alive, according to Clint Calhoun, a biologist and teacher of the Saturday first aid survival workshop at Chimney Rock Park.

“When you look around the world today and see what's happening, it pays to be prepared for any situation that might arise,” Calhoun said.

A handful of people attended the workshop where Calhoun covered how to treat a fracture or sprain, poison ivy, burns, blisters, hypothermia, snake bites and bee stings. Calhoun worked as a park naturalist at Chimney Rock Park for 11 years before leaving to work as the environmental management officer for the town of Lake Lure.Read the full article
