The proposed N.C. Senate redistricting map would alter the 48th District, represented by Republican Tom Apodaca, by removing Polk County and a portion of southern Buncombe County and adding Transylvania County.
“This is a good district,” Apodaca said of the reformulated 48th. “Henderson, Transylvania and Buncombe have a lot in common. They are made up of good conservative Democrats, Republicans and unaffiliated citizens.”
If the redistricting plan passes, Republican Sen. Ralph Hise would represent Polk County in the 47th District, which also would encompass Rutherford, McDowell, Yancey and Mitchell counties.Read the full article
