North Carolina – NC Governor, Bev Perdue, presented the Governor’s Award of Performance Excellence in Healthcare for 2011 to CarePartners at the NC Hospital Association’s Winter Membership Meeting in Raleigh on Feb. 16, 2012.
Tracy Buchanan, president and CEO of CarePartners, accepted the award on behalf of the organization. “This is a tremendous honor for CarePartners, as we were one of only three healthcare organizations in the state to receive this award,” said Buchanan.
The North Carolina Awards for Excellence Program is facilitated by the Industrial Extension Service, an arm of NC State University that supports NC business in the workplace, and is based on the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. The organizations that receive this honor have met rigorous criteria that have been benchmarked against the best performing organizations. The program has established four levels, or steps, to achieving the Baldrige award: involvement, commitment, advancement and leadership. CarePartners was awarded the level one “journey to excellence” recognition.
“As we move forward, we will continue to use the Baldridge criteria to identify opportunities for improving our operations, to focus our entire organization on common goals, to align our resources with our strategic objectives, and to help energize our staff and community,” said Buchanan. “Most importantly, we will continue to focus on results that will help CarePartners be recognized as a world-class organization.”
