A new restaurant called the Writer's Bistro is now open in the Renaissance Asheville Hotel. The restaurant is now open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Here's a sampling of the dinner menu entrees:
Porterhouse pork chop glazed with bourbon molasses served with pickled peaches ($23)
Blue Ridge Bouillabaisse of seared catfish, fennel, local mushrooms, asparagus, sweet potato in a saffron broth ($20)
Seared local trout with house-made vinegar slaw ($18)
Cocoa-encrusted pork belly, seared scallops, bacon Demi-glace served with house baked beans ($22)
So there you have it.
Also, we may get a Farm Burger in Asheville.
Here's what we know: One World Brewing is looking to set up (downstairs) in the former Ed Boudreaux's space at 48 Biltmore Ave. The Ashvegas blog has more info on that here.
A relative of the One World Brewing company's founder owns Farm Burger, a restaurant with locations in Decatur and Buckhead that specializes in grass-fed beef burgers with toppings that include serious add-on options like bone marrow, local bacon and smoked-paprika mayo.
Just look at that menu. We'll wait.
Farm Burger is seriously considering setting up shop in the Biltmore building, but don't get too excited yet. We won't know until Monday if the restaurant has decided to sign the lease.

And it looks like The Bar of Soap, a laundromat and bar located at 333 Merrimon Ave., is getting ready to feature Del Vecchio's, a New York-style pizzeria and pasta joint that will go great with the theme of the business. If I was a college kid with a bunch of dirty laundry, I know where I'd be hanging out.
