The new generator is expected to produce 1.4 megawatts of electricity for the next several years, enough to power about 1,100 homes per year. The project was funded in large part by a $3 million federal stimulus grant. The county will hold an official ribbon-cutting for the project later this month.
The light meeting agenda also includes updates on a 4–H robotics program and the Buncombe County Department of Health and Human Services' "Safety for Children Under Six" initiative, which aims to prevent child abuse.
The board will meet at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 3, in the commissioner’s chambers, located at 30 Valley St. A short pre-meeting review of the agenda will begin at 4:15 p.m.
