Western Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists open at new location

Clyde, N.C. –Western Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists, PA will reopen Wednesday in its new space in the newly-constructed MedWest Outpatient Care Center on the MedWest-Haywood campus in Clyde at 581 Leroy George Drive, between the MedWest Health and Fitness Center and the hospital.

The orthopaedic and sports medicine practice was previously located in the Mountain Medical Center complex on Hospital Drive.

Western Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists is the practice of Christofer C. Catterson, MD, Paul J. Cutting, MD and Gerald W. King, MD.

Dr. Catterson treats all orthopedic injuries and has special expertise in arthroscopic shoulder and knee reconstructions, including arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, labral repairs, ACL and multi-ligamentous knee reconstructions, articular cartilage repairs and meniscal repairs. He specializes in knee and shoulder replacements including total and partial knee replacements and total and reverse shoulder replacements. Dr. Catterson is fellowship-trained in sports medicine.

Dr. Cutting manages the full spectrum of orthopaedic conditions and has a special interest in hand and upper extremity problems, including traumatic injuries of the hand and wrist, fractures and non-unions, nerve and tendon injuries, Dupuytren’s disease and problems related to osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

Dr. King is a general orthopaedic surgeon who applies up-to-date procedures to his special interest in trauma, shoulder, hip and knee reconstruction, and specializes in the anterior approach to hip replacement and reverse total shoulder. Dr. King is the medical director of the MedWest Center for Joint Replacement, a program that provides pre and post-operative education and therapy for patients who have joint replacement surgery at MedWest-Haywood.

Western Carolina Orthopaedic Specialists is the first to move into the MedWest Outpatient Care Center, which will also house MedWest-Haywood services such as radiology, physical therapy and rehabilitation, outpatient surgery including endoscopy procedures, and women’s imaging and breast services. The remainder of the building will open in July.
