Bertis Downs, an attorney best known as manager of the legendary rock group R.E.M., and a part-time resident of Highlands, North Carolina, has endorsed Cecil Bothwell in the 11th Congressional District race. Downs accompanied his donation to the campaign with a brief comment, "I am happy to endorse you. I have a place in Highlands and spent a lot of time as a kid in Montreat."
