Education Series – Empowering Yourself as a Caregiver

(Loretta Hall is located directly behind the St. Joseph Hospital Building)
NOTE: The program is designed for anyone caring for or concerned about an aging family member or friend. Speakers will provide attendees with tools to help them make better and more-informed healthcare decisions by being an effective advocate. Speakers will be Deirdre Hulihan, Nurse Practitioner, Geriatric Consult Service, and Christie Dresback, Clinical Pharmacist, Mission Hospitals.
Caregivers will learn
•to communicate an elder’s healthcare needs and wishes during his/her doctor or hospital visits and treatments and if living in long-term care.
•to ask questions and learn about prescribed medications, their possible side effects and adverse reactions, and how to use your pharmacist as a valuable resource.
The session is sponsored by (CAPES) Caring for Aging Parents Education and Support Program which is a collaboration between Mission Hospital and the Council on Aging of Buncombe County. Refreshments will be served.
