From the press release:
Kim Green, the ghostwriter of American Idol Fantasia Barrino's bestselling autobiography Life is Not a Fairytale, will attend and participate in the Asheville Lupus Walk on May 20th with her debut novel, hallucination.
Inspired by her own life, hallucination tells the story of a young woman whose life is changed forever when she is diagnosed with Systemic Lupus, an incurable and life-threatening disease that is currently impacting over 1.5 million Americans and 45,000 North Carolina residents. hallucination is a story of a young woman’s journey to find strength, survival, and healing by learning to love herself.
Green has already appeared throughout Atlanta,GA, in Austin, TX and New York City with current plans to visit LosAngeles, and Washington, CD. Kim is working closely with the National LupusFoundation of America and the Lupus Research Institute in New York to bringvisibility to this cruel disease that sadly strikes mostly women and is 3 times more prevalent in women of color. hallucination has been endorsed as a Recommended Read by LFA and will appear in the national publication, Lupus Now this summer.
Those attending the Lupus Walk in Asheville can visit Kim Green’s table to purchase signed copies of hallucination or enter to win a free copy. Green, who has lived with lupus for nine years, will donate part of the book proceeds to the Lupus Foundation of America www.lfa.org.
Green says, “I wrote hallucination as a therapeutic exercise to take my mind off of my own physical and emotional pain. As I wrote, I realized that the emotional issues that I was facing were not mine alone. I wanted to write a story about an African American woman whose main purpose was not getting a man. People ask me if the book is a love story. It is. It’s about falling in love with yourself.”
