Mountain Garden Club members have outdone themselves this year to bring you over 2,000 plants this Saturday, May 26, at their once-a-year plant sale. This much anticipated event should not be missed.

For weeks the hard working volunteers have been digging in many special gardens. As a result there are many healthy specimens waiting for shoppers looking for something new and different. There are rare finds, such as the Clinton lily, and many great choices for shade gardens, including meadow rue, trillium and Christmas ferns.

You’ll also find old favorites including hostas, lupines, daisies, dahlias and phlox. Hardy tomatoes and herbs will also be available.

NEW items this year include specialty garden tools, perfect for gift giving. The shovels, which come in three sizes, have been nicknamed “Vicious: the shovel with an attitude!” Mountain Garden Club members have found these to be a most necessary tool in their treasure hunting for hard-to-get-to plants such as cinnamon ferns and Turk’s cap lilies.

Even if you are not a gardener, come and take home a ‘Pet Plant’ for your gardener friends. Local broadcaster Steve Day with Highlands WHLC FM 104.5 has a cinnamon fern he calls “Soft and Easy” which came from the plant sale two years ago.

The Mountain Garden Club supports the community in many ways with the proceeds from this sale. Funds pay for college scholarships, educational projects at Highlands School, renovations of the courtyard gardens at the Fidelia Eckerd Living Center, and more.

The 30th Annual Mountain Garden Club Plant Sale will take place at the Highlands Ball Field on Highway 64 E this Saturday, May 26, from 9:00 am until noon. Rain date, if needed, will be Sunday, May 27, from 1 pm until 4 pm.

You all come, you hear!
