Celebrate the electronic music pioneer’s 78th birthday anniversary! Wednesday, May 23 is the special day. Eat out at Early Girl or buy some Moog merch and have your money benefit the Bob Moog Foundation.

Early Girl Eatery is donating 20 percent of its sales on Wednesday, May 23 to the nonprofit foundation. The foundation works in local schools to teach kids about science and music through the fantastic instruments developed by Moog.

“I see Bob Moog as the father of Asheville's vibrant creative community,” Early Girl co-owner Julie Stehling said in a press release. “His influence on the world of music is impossible to overstate. The Bob Moog Foundation's current creative influence on Asheville and our children is at the top of my list of why we are so proud to run a business and raise a family in WNC.”

Early Girl will also hold a raffle and will have musicians playing vintage synths during the day. The restaurant is located at 8 Wall St. in downtown Asheville, and will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Also, get some sweet Moog merch. Moog Music Inc, which has a big selection of tees, hoodies, hats, patches, bags, mugs and more, is donating 50 percent of online clothing and merchandise sales to the Foundation.

And for every $350 raised, Moog Music will donate an Etherwave theremin to the Dr. Bob’s Soundschool program — a project of the Foundation in local schools.

“Moog Music and our customers celebrate Bob’s pioneering legacy. In a time when science achievement is declining in this country, we are proud to support the Bob Moog Foundation in their efforts to bring science alive through electronic music. We invite all of our customers to make a purchase online on May 23rd and support the Foundation’s important work,” said Mike Adams, Moog Music President & CEO, in a press release.
