Beginning today, May 25, Lake Powhatan Recreation Area visitors will pay $2 per person, per day, to enter the park, instead of the $5 per vehicle fee. Registered campers are exempt from day-use fees, and annual passes ($30) are still available.

The site's managing concessionaire, the Cradle of Forestry in America Interpretive Association, will collect the fee at the main entrance and at the entrance to the beach area. From May 25 to Sept. 3, CFAIA staff will be assigned to the beach area from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day to collect fees.

The Lake Powhatan Recreation Area is located in the Pisgah Ranger District, Pisgah National Forest. For more information, contact DFAIA at 884-5713.
