From the press release from Mission Health:

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (June 8, 2012) – Ronald A. Paulus, MD, President and CEO of Mission Health, has been named to the Becker’s Hospital Review “100 Physician Leaders of Hospitals and Health Systems” list. Dr. Paulus is the first physician to assume the top executive position at Mission Health.

Becker’s Hospital Review is a national healthcare industry publication that reports on business, legal and best practice information for hospital and health system leaders. The “100 Physician Leaders of Hospitals and Health Systems” list was compiled by peer nominations and assessed by industry experts. The Becker’s list recognizes leaders’ health care experience, awards they have received, and their commitment to quality care.

“Dr. Paulus is a dynamic leader and his clinical background provides a great deal of insight into the health system strategy, management and relationships,” said Janice Brumit, Chair of the Board at Mission Hospital. “He is a change agent and his passion has resonated throughout our entire health system and across the region.”

“Since his start at Mission Health, Dr. Paulus has implemented new strategies to improve quality, ensure patient satisfaction and create new models of healthcare delivery. He is a compassionate leader and driven by Mission Health’s commitment to the BIGG(ER) Aim. We’re fortunate to be led by his passion and his colleagues in their effort to redesign the overall healthcare delivery system.”

“I am humbled by this recognition — which is just the latest in a series of accolades for our health system here in western North Carolina,” said Dr. Paulus. Mission Health was recently named one of the Top 15 Health Systems in the nation and Mission Hospital one of the Top 100 Hospitals in America each by Thomson Reuters. “This recognition, while personal, is truly a reflection of the extraordinary physicians, colleagues, nurses and staff I have the privilege of working with each and every day. Our team delivers world class healthcare and they are the reason Mission Health is a nationally recognized health system.”
