Starting this week, the Public Works Department of the City of Hendersonville will install attractive street banners in three of the City’s historic districts. A total of 27 banners will be going up in the West Side, Lenox Park and Cold Spring Park neighborhoods. Each district’s banners are a different color and feature artwork specific to that district. These districts are all listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The West Side Historic District runs generally along the 5th, 4th and 3rd Avenues between Washington and Blythe Streets. The West Side banners are blue and show the doorway of the Ambassador Apartments on 5th Avenue. The Lenox Park Historic District is bounded by Spring and Whitted Streets connected by Rose Street. The Lenox Park banners are maroon and show a building turret with decorative windows seen in that neighborhood. Cold Spring Park is the City’s newest historic, designated in 2009, and is located behind Bruce Drysdale Elementary. The banners for Cold Spring Park are a terra cotta color and feature a craftsman style door found on several bungalows in that neighborhood.Read the full article
