Here's the results for the statewide races that were decided in the July 17 primary election, according to unofficial tallies from the North Carolina Board of Elections. The winners advance to the November 6 election. Overall turnout across the state was abysmal at roughly 3.6 percent.

Lieutenant Governor:
Dan Forest 68 percent
Tony Gurley 32 percent
NC Commissioner of Insurance:
Mike Causey 57 percent
Richard Morgan 43 percent
NC Secretary of State:
Ed Goodwin 54 percent
Kenn Gardner 46 percent
NC Superintendent of Public Instruction:
John Tedesco 54 percent
Richard Alexander 46 percent
The Democratic race
NC Commissioner of Labor:
John C. Brooks 54 percent
Marlowe Foster 46 percent
The Republican races
