In the coming days, our reporters will be interviewing various political candidates for the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners, N.C. General Assembly, and U.S. Congress – as well as developing Xpress' annual election guide questionnaire. As part of this process, we'd love to get your input.
So dear readers, what questions and issues are on your minds? What questions would you like for us to include in our interviews with the candidates and/or the questionnaire we present to them?
Please submit your ideas in the comment thread of this blog post. Or you can email them to either jfrankel@mountainx.com or news@mountainx.com. Be sure to indicate what office and/or candidate your question is directed towards. And of course, keep it civil (and succinct, if possible).
Thanks – we appreciate your input.

Congressional candidates: Do you support the DISCLOSE Act of 2012?
Do you support HJR 47, which would eliminate the deadline for ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment and would clarify that the ERA will become part of the U.S. Constitution after three more states ratify it?
State House & State Senate: Would you support a resolution to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment?
Would you support a "Nonpartisan redistricting process bill", similar or identical to NC HB 824 which passed the state house last year, which would remove the power of drawing new district lines from the members of the General Assembly and turn that power over to nonpartisan staff from the Legislative Services Office?
Would you support a bill similar to NC HB 120, which would have authorized municipalities with more than 50,000 residents to create local public campaign finance programs?

For Assembly and other State offices: What is your position on revisiting SB 183, which allows dramatically more cutting of trees to enable billboard visibility? Specifically their position on whether municipalities may control billboards within their Boundaries.
