Ahead of the start, workers were sprucing up the outside, installing a new awning in the Asheville colors of cardinal (not red), black and white, trimming trees and remarking the parking lot and traffic lanes.
Superintendent Allan Johnson hopes the traffic patterns at AMS and at Asheville High School, will "go smoothly, if people just remember what we did last year."
For most kids, of course, summer always ends too soon, for some parents never soon enough. This year, Asheville City Schools got the exemption to start early from the state, if the snow days are needed, time will tell. Tomorrow holds little chance of wintery weather, but a blizzard of students return for the school year.
