PRESS RELEASE
Flat Rock, NC: Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site will close Little Glassy Mountain Trail beginning Monday, August 20, for maintenance work. This work will include the cutting and piling of down and standing dead trees. Recent years of drought and shallow soil beds on Little Glassy Mountain have caused tree mortality and created a high potential fuel load for wildfires. Trees will be cut and piled in several places along the trail for future removal. The trail will be closed for two to three weeks, including evenings and weekends. All other trails will remain open. Your cooperation is appreciated while this important work is accomplished.

Carl Sandburg Home National Historic Site, a unit of the National Park Service, is located three miles south of Hendersonville off U.S. 225 on Little River Road. The park is open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., daily, except Christmas Day. For further information, please telephone 828-693-4178, or visit our website at:
