It's true. We had to call to make sure. Chai Pani, the Battery Park Indian street-food café, will give a free chai to anyone who votes in Mountain Xpress' Best of WNC poll, which closes Wednesday, Aug. 22. We swear we didn't put them up to it. Here's the message we received:

In a show of support for our local electoral process, Chai Pani is giving away FREE CHAI to anyone who casts their votes in The Mountain Xpress's "Best of WNC" survey.
No need to tell us who you voted for — just vote! Bring in your confirmation email (on your smartphone or printout) and we will happily pour you a hot cup of chai. That's it. Voting should be uncomplicated, straightforward and fulfilling. Just like our chai.
Voting runs through Wednesday, Aug. 22 online at bestofwnc.com.
