Asheville Area Seniors and Rep. Patsy Keever to Rally Outside Local Romney Campaign Office
Seniors Will Demand Compensation for $6,000 in Additional Health Care Costs Under Romney-Ryan Budget Plan
Asheville, N.C.— After receiving the news that Mitt Romney has named Congressman Paul Ryan as his running mate and Congressman Patrick McHenry reinforcing his support for the devastating Romney-Ryan budget, Asheville-area seniors will gather outside of the local Romney campaign office to demand compensation for the $6,350 in additional health care costs that the Romney-Ryan budget would leave them on the hook for. They will be joined by State Representative Patsy Keever, who is running for Congress in the 10th Congressional District. Keever is facing Congressman Patrick McHenry, who has supported and fully endorsed the Romney-Ryan budget.
Congressman Ryan is the architect of the Romney-Ryan-McHenry budget, which would end Medicare as we know it by turning it into a voucher system, shifting thousands of dollars in health care costs to seniors. A nonpartisan analysis found that Ryan’s extreme proposal would increase seniors' health costs by up to $6,350 a year. Ryan has also proposed a plan that would have privatized Social Security, forcing seniors to gamble their retirement savings on Wall Street.
