ASHEVILLE, N.C. -- The U.S. Forest Service today unveiled its "Leaf Viewing in Western North Carolina" webpage for 2012 that features scenic drives and areas in the Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests for enjoying fall foliage.
The feature is posted on the National Forests in North Carolina website, http://www.fs.usda.gov/nfsnc, click on "Leaf Viewing in Western North Carolina."
"Leaf Viewing in Western North Carolina" describes the types of mountain plants that visitors will see during peak season at high, middle and low elevations. For example, the Cherohala Skyway in Graham County enables travelers to enjoy a variety of colorful, high-elevation plants in late September.
Enjoy the beauty of the national forests in North Carolina, and whether you are traveling by car or by foot this fall, always travel safely.
