But next week's Zansa show at Asheville Music Hall on Thursday, Aug. 30 goes above and beyond. The evening includes performances by two more regional bands, neo-soul outfit The Secret B-Sides; and Diali Cissokho & Kairaba (from Carrboro), led by Cissokho, a Senegalese kora master.
The show starts at 9 p.m., but plan to arrive early: West African dance instructor Jaime Walker leads a dance demo at 8:30 p.m. You know those high energy African dance moves? This is your chance to learn a little bit of the choreography.
And, to fuel all the dancing (whether choreographed or improvised), The One Stop Deli's executive chef, Zika Singogo, will be selling his specialty African cuisine all evening.
Tickets are $8 in advance (buy them here) or $10 day of the show.
