Virginia Simpson was taken aback when former business associate Chris Petrella told her he wanted to run for the 11th Congressional District seat, but it didn’t take long for her to jump on board.
Simpson said Petrella’s proven ability to create jobs and bring business into Western North Carolina were convincing enough.
“I said, ‘If you’re serious about this run, we’ll put the whole consulting group behind you,’ ” said Simpson, Petrella’s campaign manager and chairwoman of South Carolina-based Simpson & Partners.
He has “a very different approach from what most people are doing — certainly in this particular race, and politically in general.”
