U.S. Census Bureau figures show the numbers of uninsured residents in North Carolina has climbed to 19.1 percent, the highest in five years. Western North Carolina counties were predominantly higher than that average, with five counties above 24.1 percent (Graham, Macon, Jackson, Avery, Alleghany). Buncombe County fell into the second highest tier, with between 20.1 and 24 percent of residents under 65 having no health insurance.Read the full article
