World music and arts festival Culturefest kicks off in Pipestem, W.Va., on Thursday, Sept. 6 (and runs through Sunday, Sept. 9). It's a four-hour drive, give or take, but the festival promises music, dance, performance art, workshops, artisan vendors, drum circles, a kids' village, healing arts, camping, community art projects, a parade and an after hours cabaret.

The music lineup includes Asheville-based artists A Ghost Like Me and Brushfire Stankgrass.

A Ghost Like Me (above) performs self-described "instrumental space rock." Read a review here.

Brushfire Stankgrass (below) is a local fave, blending electronic and new grass. Learn more about them here.

Also on the roster: Songs of Water, My Pet Dragon, Antioquia, The Soil & The Sun, Spiritual Rez, Option 22, Appalatin, Miss Behavin', Margo & The Bluegills, Melissa McKinney, Po' Folks Cabaret, Cari Cohen Speakeasy, Kathleen Coffee, Captain Lazerblast Band, The Brother-Sisters, Kirbie, Four 14, Cassidy Rae Ponton, Ron Perrone, Liberty High World Percussion Ensemble, Chally Erb and Cygnus X 3.

Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the gate. A full weekend pass is $30 adults/$12 kids and includes camping; day passes (no camping) are $7 Thursday, $15 Friday, $15 Saturday and $12 Sunday. Kids days passes are $7, kids under age 5 get in for free.
