From the press release:
U.S. Senator Kay R. Hagan released the following statement after the credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s moved the U.S. long-term credit rating from AAA to AA+.
"I wish to share three things with the hard-working people of North Carolina," said Hagan. "First, the full faith and credit of the United States is beyond question. We have never failed to pay our bills and we never will. Second, Washington must keep its eye on the ball: America needs jobs. That remains my number one priority. Third, I remain committed to balanced, bipartisan and comprehensive deficit reduction going forward."

Deficit reduction means a sane balance between getting value for taxpayer dollars and reforming Bush II failures.

Tonight, Standard & Poor’s did downgrade the United States’ government credit rating from AAA to AA+, citing the following in a press release:
“The outlook on the long-term rating is negative. We could lower the long-term rating to ‘AA’ within the next two years if we see that less reduction in spending than agreed to, higher interest rates, or new fiscal pressures during the period result in a higher general government debt trajectory than we currently assume in our base case.â€

And we are already seeing some of these so-called 'Tea Party' whack jobs responding honestly to the downgrade:
"Tea Party Express supporters in Wisconsin Sunday seemed proud to take the blame for S&P’s downgrade of U.S. credit.
“This week — and I wrote it down — they are blaming the credit downgrade on the tea party movement,†Tea Party Express’ Shea King told the crowd.
King’s announcement was met with cheers and applause.
“They are calling it ‘the tea party downgrade.’ They are objectivizing [sic] us,†she added.

If there is a further downgrade, or some additional bad economic news for the country, these extremist pikers will be in a state of euphoria.
