Gov. Bev Perdue joins President Obama in ordering all United States and North Carolina flags at state and federal facilities to be flown at half-staff immediately through sunset Sunday, Sept. 16, in response to the attack on the American Embassy in Libya. Citizens are encouraged to lower flags as well.
The President’s proclamation called for the lowering of flags “as a mark of respect for the memory of John Christopher Stevens, United States Ambassador to Libya, and American personnel killed in the senseless attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi.”
