Though it's unlikely that Aubrey Plaza (of
Parks and Recreation and
Safety Not Guaranteed) will make a cameo when indie rockers The Spring Standards play Jack of the Wood early next week (as she did when they played
Conan in June), it's almost guaranteed that the New York-based trio will bring its huge sound, irresistible hooks and relentless energy. James Cleare, Heather Robb and James Smith have been performing together since they were 16. This year they released the double EP
yellow//gold — 12 songs that are perfectly balanced between polished and rowdy. The show is on Monday, Sept. 24. 10 p.m. Amanda Jo Williams opens. $5. http://jackofthewood.com.
