Advocacy groups filed a claim in Wake County District Court on Friday, saying their spot analysis found that more than 2,000 voters in six counties were assigned incorrectly under the state's 2010 redistricting plan. The groups contend the boundaries were intentionally drawn to segregate minority voters. Representatives said in a subsequent news conference that they recognize that the party in power always draws districts to their advantage every decade. But, they insist, this redistricting was more extreme than any in the past, with 563 precincts split -- more than twice the number 10 years ago.
